Green Envy Eco-Boutique was opened in March of 2008 in Newport, Rhode Island. Over the years Rachel, the owner, became aware of the dire state of the planet. She realized that if one person makes a small change in his or her life the results can be tremendous. Rachel always wanted to own her own store so as soon as she graduated from college she set forth to make that dream come true. She combined her love of the earth with her passion for fashion. At the age of 23 she opened Green Envy Eco-Boutique and is now helping people look great and feel great about sustaining the planet.
HOW WE CHOOSE THE ITEMS WE SELL
Rachel has extremely high environmental and ethical standards for each product carried in Green Envy Eco-Boutique. Each item and supplier is carefully researched to make sure that they are the most eco-friendly option available. When selecting Fair Trade merchandise, if the supplier is not approved by the Fair Trade Federation (FTF) or World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) much more research must be done. The artisans who make the items must be paid fairly (ideally double to triple the average wage of their country or region). Working conditions must be healthy and safe. We will never sell items produced using child labor or sweatshop labor. To verify that our standards are met it is important to see documentation of the wages the artisans receive, pictures of their working environment, and testemonials from the artisans themselves. It is wonderful to support disadvantaged and disabled artisans who are now able to have a better quality of life for themselves and their families because of their crafts.
IN STORE ENVIRONMENTAL PRACTICES
At Green Envy Eco-Boutique's retail location in Newport, RI it's not only the products that are eco-friendly, our everyday store operation is environmentally savvy as well. We make our own organic cleaning spray to wash all of our windows, jewelry cases, floors, and mirrors. Paper towels are banned, we only use rags. All of the store's lightbulbs are CFL's. We only use 100% recycled toilet paper. We recycle every piece of packaging that enters the store. We'll even take a customer's empty bottle from them to recycle. We always ask if a customer would like a receipt and will not print one out if the answer is no. All of these little things add up to make a huge difference in the long run.

We are happy to exchange or refund your credit card for any items you are not satisfied with. The item must be returned within 14 days of the shipping date in perfect condition with tags still attached. Hair and skin care products must not be used or opened. Return shipping is at the customer's expense. Shipping and handling on returned merchandise is not refundable.
