After 9 wonderful years in Newport, Rhode Island, Green Envy will be moving to a new location! Where, you might ask?
-The Internet! Yep, that’s right, we’ll be everywhere!
Rachel Lessne opened Green Envy in Newport, Rhode Island in 2008 when she was 23 years old, exactly one year after graduating from the University of Rhode Island. It was her dream to open a shop where all customers could feel great about what they purchased. Every item sold in Green Envy is handmade, eco-friendly, and/or fair trade. The boutique carries something for everyone; from housewares to jewelry, and skin care to baby clothing. Now, 9 years later, Green Envy has won 14 local and national awards and has grown to be a favorite shop among locals and visitors alike.
Why move to the Internet?
Having an online store means that Green Envy can reach a wider base of customers, which means more fair trade, handmade and eco-friendly goods for everyone to enjoy! The store will also travel locally to be a vendor at Fairs and Festivals like Field of Artisans. All customers on the email list will be sent an updated Festival Schedule so you can still come buy in person!
It has always been a dream of Rachel's to travel around the world and meet the artisans of the amazing products we carry at Green Envy. This opportunity will allow her to learn more about fair trade and grow the business by showing customers the “behind the scenes” action to all of the beautifully crafted goods. Artisans come from near and far; Madagascar, The Philippines, Bolivia, Rwanda, Newport, Rhode Island and Seattle, Washington – just to name a few!
It is bittersweet to see our brick and mortar store leave Newport, Rhode Island, but change can always be a good thing! Currently, until April 30th, everything in the store is 50% off, including displays and fixtures so be sure to stop by for a great deal!
